Starlord Defender of the Universe Loves Jesus
Actor, Chris Pratt most-notably known for his starring roles in films including the Jurassic World trilogy and the Guardians of the Galaxy saga as well as hit television series, Parks & Recreation and The Terminal List has been rather outspoken concerning his faith. Recently, Pratt conversed with Men’s Health regarding his feelings on the topic of religion.
Pratt has shared publicly that he is indeed a Christian, however he does not consider himself “a religious person.” This quote speaks to a commonly held notion within Christianity today, that places “relationship over religion.” Although both sides are interesting stances to adhere to when conceptualizing one’s walk with God, I’m not sure we can have one without the other.
Jesus did not die to create a religion, and He does in fact want to be in relationship with us, but this does not mean we should totally neglect the concept of religion. Religion allows for believers to operate within a framework of rules and precepts that should be divinely guided to help us further our relationship with God while also showing love to others. Conversely, participating too heavily in the religious aspect of Christianity, while neglecting a relationship with God could also lead to believers to “do Christianity” rather than “be a Christian.”
