Lecrae Gives His Take on Kendrick Lamar’s Latest Project

One disclaimer needs to be said before reading or watching further. Art is indeed subjective, and this album is nothing short of a work of art. Aside from differing views and crass language, one perspective that we should all adhere to while examining this album (or any form of art), is what is God saying/revealing to me through this piece?

There is no limit to how God speaks, and the methods by which He will use to reveal things to us. Kendrick Lamar has certainly been vocal concerning his faith in Jesus Christ in each of his past works, however we as Christians often tend to be judgmental of secular artists due to audiences that they primarily serve.

Regardless of how you feel about the album, there are several things that we can deduce from the project, the first being that we all go through painful experiences. Another aspect that is spoken about throughout the collection of tracks is Kendrick Lamar’s yearning to know God through experiencing other religions; which is certainly why praying for Kendrick is pivotal during this time.
